After being stuck in our homes for the past year, we saw many TikTok Mug Recipes go viral. With many sitting in the kitchen sick of complicated banana bread recipes, the throwing things in a mug and seeing what happened was most certainly on everyone’s mind.
One of the most delicious and simple ways to make a minute mug cake was the TikTok Oreo Mug Cake. Easily made with any flavor Oreo, making endless possibilities, this 2 ingredient TikTok cake was worth testing out and a fun way for kids and college teens to make a dessert “homemade” in mere minutes.

How Many Oreo’s go in a Mug
With so many types and sizes of mugs, it can be difficult to determine how many Oreo cookies go into a mug for a mug cake.
No matter the size mug you use, simply fill the mug about half way or a little over half way and combine the milk just under the cookies.
The milk will still be very much like liquid but there should be a lot of broken down chunky cookies into the milk. If it seems like too much milk, its fine to add a few more cookies.
The Oreos act as the “dough” in this case and the milk is the liquid that forms the cake. Its about a 2:1 ration on Cookies: Milk.
Fill up a large mug with 7-8 OREO cookies and pour in milk about half way into the mug.
Oreos will soften fairly quickly, as Oreos tend to do, and mash with a fork.
Microwave Oreo Mug Cake for 75 seconds, check and continue microwaving at 15 second intervals until cake is compete.
Remember that mugs themselves can get VERY hot so be careful when working with any mug based recipes that the ingredients may not be as hot as the outside mug.
Oreo Mug cake will be dense and not fluffy, resulting in a chocolaty brownie consistency and super fun to eat.
Let mug cake cool a few minutes and dig in!

Top with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle or a bit of cinnamon.
How do I know Mug Cake is Cooked?
As the mug cake cooks in the microwave, the liquid will turn into “cake”. The first 75 seconds you pull it out, there may be a slight white coating on the top of the cake. That is the milk. Push slightly with a spoon to test sponginess.
If the dough still has too much liquid, continue to microwave 15-20 seconds at a time until dough is mostly solid and cooked.
