Flavored Kool-Aid Marshmallows, "jellomellows" are a fun, kid-friendly viral TikTok recipe. Awesome for drinks, s'mores, and just plain eating, you won't believe how easy it is to make homemade marshmallows with colored Kool-Aid packets.
Grease an 8x8 baking pan with softened butter. Set baking dish aside.
Add 1/2 cup cold water, unflavored gelatin, and Kool-Aid drink mix to a large mixer bowl. Gently stir with a spatula. Set aside.
Add the whisking blade to the mixer.
In a separate small saucepan, add 1/2 cup water, granulated sugar, and light corn syrup. Heat mixture over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until the temperature hits 240 degrees F. This takes about 8-10 minutes.
Remove the sauce pan from heat and carefully drizzle into the mixer while it is running on medium speed. Continue to pour in slowly until it's all in the mixer. Continue to run the mixer on medium-high for 3-5 minutes or until color changes to a light pink and starts to thicken well.
Pour marshmallow mixture into prepared pan and gently spread evenly. Tap the dish lightly on the counter to settle. Let marshmallows stand for 4 hours.
When ready to cut, sprinkle the top of solidified marshmallows with powdered sugar.
Add wax paper to the counter. Sprinkle the wax paper with powdered sugar and invert the pan. If the marshmallows don't pop out, gently pry them with a spatula or knife around the edges and they should fall right out.
Cut Kool-Aid marshmallows into 16 squares and dust with additional powdered sugar if sticky.
